Because #utsmw16 deserves more than just one post – here is my personal encounter of yet another insightful event.
Music, Murder, and Entertainment: How to Kill It in Social Media, was one of my favorite sessions. Out of all the panel members, Erick Baker was definitely the unexpected highlight. This could have been due to the fact he gave us a private performance of the song he wrote for his wife – Unbroken Promise or the fact he was completely humble and gave some great advice.
Don’t get me wrong, Erick Baker was absolutely amazing, but the other panel members were each unique and brought some great advice to the table as well.
Let’s start with Mike McCloud. This guy is the CEO of World Food Championships, which is pretty cool. He gave us the inside scoop on what led to his accomplishments, and on the competition itself.
Deborah Allen comes next. She had some awesome insights on this thing I love known as social media. #Killerpost is a really fascinating social media series that aires on Oxygen and she just happens to be the Show Runner. Surprisingly enough, she isn’t on social media.
At the end of the panelist table sat Erick Baker. I could seriously listen to his music all day. He’s shared the stage with artists including John Legend, James Blunt, and Gavin DeGraw – and for good reason; he is truly talented. Not only is he a singer/songwriter right out of Knoxville, TN, he is the host of the PBS outdoor television show Tennessee Uncharted. Pretty awesome!
Funny, outgoing, glowing are just a few words that describe the moderator for this UTSMW session. WATE 6 anchor, Tearsa Smith, was the perfect bubbly personality for this panel. She made everything light and fun.
After listening to this group of inspiring individuals, there is so much to reflect on. Here are some of my favorite takeaways.
